Test Shoot
This is the test shoot we did before offical filming. This helped us work out what went well and what we could improve on. In these stages we can afford to make mistakes and in fact realizing them earlier on will help us in the future of this project.
Research Into Companies And Institutions (Big Machine)
The recording label that supports Taylor Swift is Big
Machine Label Group. They are the sponsors that help country artists like
Taylor Swift make the right decisions in order to reach a target audience and
be successful.
They help new artists that want to be successful in the
music industry do everything possible to make that happen. They have a team of
people that help in the decision making to make the right choices. The most important
thing is to find out who their target audience is, once they have done that
they can tailor everything that Taylor Swift represents in order to match it to
what her audience wants. This can be anything from costume to makeup. The team
of people are basically in charge of all the research and planning before the
music video is produced so they can make sure they target her audience in every
way possible by meeting to their needs of entertainment.

Analysis On Article
This is my analysis on a small article in a magazine. It talks about Taylor Swift and her new album. I analysed this piece, whilst taking into consideration Maslow’s Hierarchy of needs.
Textual Analysis
I did a textual analysis on Katy Perry’s music video. I took into consideration Editing, Mise en Scene and Camera Angles/Movements. This helped me to realize the kind of detail I need to consider when creating the music video.
Full Story Board
Here I experimented with creating a storyboard digitally and how it would work. However by the end of this process i found that it was easier to show my ideas through drawing it myself because I was able to use things like arrows to indicate movement. Although it is a very clear way of showing how the music video might look I feel I could add more detail when drawing.

This is our Storyboard which we made after analysing our lyrics and creating ideas. We tried to use shots that were typical of our genre and reflected the narrative of the story so that the viewer could understand what is happening.

How Does Todorov's Theory Apply To Our Music Video?
After completing our analysis on the lyrics and finding ideas which then lead us to create the storyboard I have come to the conclusion that Todorov's theory of how narrative works within music video's applies to our music video. This is because although it starts with only having a state of equilibrium for a short while the disruption stage happens when disorder is created. So we are introduced to the characters when we can see there is an unsettle in their relationship because of how they act around each other when she decides that they need to break up for the last time; this is the 'disruption'. In the classroom and especially the bedroom scene the disequilibrium (disorder) begins. This is because she feels like people in the class are talking about her and her relationship as well as him letting her down with a text. The female character seems to be telling herself that she doesn't want to get back with her boyfriend but isn't fully sure when she gets to stage 4 where she 'tries to solve the problem' this is when she realises that it must just be about her and no longer him. This is when the scene's where he is involved stop and the shots of her being independent on her own in the studio become more frequent. She is now back to the beginning stage of equilibrium where there has been closure and the narrative ends.

Mise En Scene
By looking at the Mise en Scene of Katy Perry's music video in this detail it means that I can see what I need to think about when making our music video.
Todorov's Theory
This is a short slide describing what I have learnt about Todorov's theory and how it could apply to my work.

Digi Pack Analysis
This is my analysis of media products that have been made. By analysing them I am able to see what certain genres continue to use and what my genre uses. I can see what makes CD’s differ from each other and it will also help inspire me with ideas of what I could do for my ancillary task.
Representation Of Male And Female Artists Within Country-Pop Music
These are some slides going into detail about the kinds of people within the genre I am looking at. I will be comparing them by their gender to see if it matters within this part of the industry. It will also give me clear understanding of the differences in things like costume and shot types. I expect to find that they are branded completely different to each other.

Storyboard
This is a storyboard that my team mate has made on a different section of the music video. It shows clearly what we might want to interoperate.

Analysis on Magazine Advert
Below is an analysis on a magazine advert. This has helped me to realise what is important to have on a poster and it has inspired me to think of different ways of connecting with my target audience.
