Below is a digital storyboard where I experimented with using a different way of presenting my work. I found that although it was a clear way of sharing ideas; I wanted to do a written storyboard because it means I can add more detail. By this I mean adding things like arrows to show movement.

Research into Two Different Genre's
As part of looking into the differences between genre's I analysed two popular genre's and looked at their conventions.
Location Test Shoot in the Classroom
This is us trying out the camera on the dolly, panning the classroom to see if it would look good in our final edit. However we found it wasn't smooth enough to use.

Interview with Target Audience
By speaking one on one with someone in the age range of who we might want to target; this gives us a clear idea of what we might want to include in our video in order to appeal to her.

This is a location shoot which we have thought about in depth if it would match the conventions of our genre.

Analysis on Artist Website Homepage
Analysis on Website
These are the five changing images that come onto the homepage for Taylor Swift’s official site. This is the beginning of her ‘new’ look. We can still see influence from the theme of the photographers that suggest the country-western genre. She is trying to take on a more contemporary look that matches her new album. The ‘red’ is also very modern and the connotations are more sensual then what she is usually exposed to. She seems more grown up then how she has been represented in the past albums, the title is associated with love, lust and passion. This shows that she is growing with her audience and maybe she is trying to get a wider view by appealing to the male gaze, she is doing this by looking more glamorous/stylish. This could suggest a slight change in her music and the fact that she wants people to recognise her as and artist more seriously.
In our music video we want to keep our girly theme Taylor exudes as well as taking on this contemporary style within her genre of music.
Although Taylor is exploring new avenues she has still shown in more than one way that she is keeping her originality by not changing her image too dramatically; for example she still has her blonde hair although it is straighter. She has also kept the ‘Taylor Swift’ logo that has become a recognised brand.

Study On Andrew Goodwin Media Theorist
'Music video's are simply an extension of the lyrics' Andrew Goodwin
How far do I agree with this statement?
I agree with Andrew Goodwin's statement because when watching a music video certain aspects like mise en scene add to the lyrics. This enhances the experience of listening to the song. The lyrics of a song can be interpreted differently like a book being made into a film, people have different ways of approaching this. Some music video's can be very expressive and literal in the message they are trying to portray. For example if the lyrics had to say 'arguing with you on the phone' that's what you'd see the actors doing in the video. However others can be open to interpretation with the footage not having much connection at all to the lyrics. An example of a non-literal music video is Fatboy Slim's 'Praise him' which as no connection between the video and the lyrics, it is something completely the opposite. Sometimes music video's like Bruno Mars' 'Lazy Song' which uses both types of ways to approach a music video both literal and non-literal can be a good mix. All of these things make the experience of listening to the music better, therefore I agree with with Andrew Goodwin's statement on music video's.

Looking into Trailer as an Option
These
are some of the different genre’s of film trailers we could look into:
•Action
adventure
•Crime
•Drama
•Chick
flick
•Horror
•Thriller
•Comedy
•Romance
•Sci-fi
•Animation
•Gore
Over all I think that although doing a trailer could be a good option and there is plenty of room to explore different routes. I still think that doing a music video would suit our group better; this is because of what we can achieve with the group and location and what we know we can work hard in to make it successfull.

How have my skills improved during the AS?
Research and Pre-Production- (before filming)
-How have you improved so far and how could you improve further?
Through AS I have been using research as a way of sourcing information to help me in my work. I feel that with practise I have got better at this there-for helping me in the later stages of the project. I could improve further by making sure that I complete all my research and pre-production before filming, this could help in the future. Also exploring more genre's when beginning the project would be good.
Production- (filming)
-How have you improved so far and how could you improve further?
The improvements that I have made in AS with filming would include knowing the effects of different shot types and how it can effect what you are trying to portray to the audience. This I believe will help me in my next project, however I know I need to improve on my time management when filming because this helps with the finial details towards the end of the project.
Post Production- (editing)
-How have you improved so far and how could you improve further?
I feel that with editing in the As project, I really enjoyed it and that by doing so much I have been able to practise my skills to help me in the future. I could improve by learning more about photoshop to help my editing.
Conclusion overall: the whole project
The improvements that I have made so far in AS I know will help me in the future. In the past I have struggled with not being confident in certain areas of the media project however by listening to my teacher and communicating with fellow class mates whilst working on something; this has meant it has helped me improve in areas that I wasn’t previously strong in.
One of the areas that I didn’t feel completely comfortable in was filming (this is because I hadn’t done much in the past). Due to the Apprentice project I was able to expand on my knowledge of filming, therefore making me feel more comfortable and have more understanding in what I am doing. This will hugely benefit me in the future because if I am working in a small group it will be vital that I know how to uses a camera correctly for the practical course works.
Further improvements that I feel I need to make are with editing footage. Although I have had some experience in editing I feel that I can improve in this part more. With the A2 project I know I will be using editing machines and by practising I'm sure I can develop further; therefore by the end of the year I will have made sufficient improvements.
